Participants meet with Doctoral and Master’s level counselors each week to learn how to better cope effectively with negative thoughts, feelings and emotions (e.g., anxiety, depression, loneliness, and stress). Clients develop new strategies and skills to challenge old patterns of avoidance and escapism. Psychological counseling addresses both the process addiction symptoms and the underlying psychological, interpersonal and cultural forces that contribute to problematic use.
