Basically, it’s pretty dang awesome
Hi! Just wanted to give you a quick life update. Basically, it’s pretty dang awesome – I’ve been back at school, and at work. I’ve been making an effort to be more social, and it’s going pretty well. For the first time in a while I feel...reSTART is the first step in the long road of recovery
Impact Letter
It will be difficult to summarize all I have learned here at reSTART in two pages and to express appropriate gratitude to all those involved in my recovery process thus far.
Each staff member and therapist has his/her unique style and all have been equally affective. From Cosette’s laissez -faire approach, to Hilarie’s subtle yet direct prodding, to Linda’s interactive, non-threatening style, to Ann’s medical yet compassionate technique, to Gary’s hands-on supervision, I feel I have received the best of all worlds, and I wish to thank them all for their efforts and for the knowledge and wisdom they have imported on us all. There is a wealth of information and wisdom here; all that is required is an open mind and a willingness to listen and learn to set us back on the right path to productivity and true personal gratification.
Length of Stay
Process addiction treatment can be divided into three major stages Stage 1. Admission, abstinence, clarity and acceptance. During the beginning stage of treatment, individuals develop rapport with staff and peers; engage in guided self-assessment and goal setting; ...One of the most exhilarating times of my life
Impact Statement
I still have vivid memories of the first day that I arrived at reSTART. Standing on the stairs between the kitchen and the great room, I was so doubtful of how I was possibly going to survive. It was as if I was in World War III against my OCD. My overwhelming OCD astonished the staff almost as much as the snow that day as I was not the only one who was unsure of being able to live here.
Despite the negative prospects of many people, including myself, here I am today, incredibly glad that I had stayed. Prior to coming here, I was inept in many tasks, household chores, socializing, construction, etc. Now, as far as I have noticed, I have greatly improved my skills in those areas. However, two particular tasks that I had enjoyed the most were playing the piano and riding a bicycle. I had never touched a piano, let alone play it, before reSTART. With the help of the helpful participants, I learned how to play songs that I never thought I was capable of. As with biking, the first experience, with the assistance from Gary, was one of the most exhilarating times of my life. Learning to balance on a bicycle is quite a challenge at first, especially when you are an adult. The construction projects with Gary were ample fun. Assembling a drawer, then a bunk bed, then a ramp and part of fixing/modifying the tree house; all of these skills that I have learned at reSTART mean a lot to me.
