Screen sense is a section of the Huffington Post which publishes relative information in the areas of media and screens in the age of rapid tech development.

In a recent post, Russ Warner, the CEO of Net Nanny, shared his views in a recent blog entry discussing the problems of Internet Addiction, and the 44.5 screen time hours used by the average kid in America today. He goes on to cite a recent Tablets for Schools study which reports that 40% of children in the UK believe they are addicted to screens. In summary, Warner reports that many kids feel like life would be over without the Internet. He provides several suggestions for protecting kids includes setting healthy rules, boundaries and guidelines for Internet consumption.

Over the past 5 years, it’s been our findings, at reSTART, that parents do want to set healthy boundaries, and have in fact attempted to set boundaries with their children only to be faced with countless obstacles in doing so.

In order to help parents  build an indivdualized plan to address digital media use in their families, reSTART will be offering 4-day intensive parent summit workshops beginning in August 2014. If you’re interested in joining a group of like minded individuals interested in sustainable digital media use, please call 800.682.6934 to reserve a space in our upcoming workshop.
