A recent blog post by Jennifer Latkiewicz of Mygloss.com highlights some interesting statistics on the topic of internet addiction. In her post, she cites various studies and research information which capture the immensity of the problem by looking at the numbers.
"While some may dismiss the idea of 'Internet Addiction Disorder,' the fact that na Internet rehab like reSTART even exists says alot."
Citing a study done by Harvard University, she reports that 12,000,000 to 20,000,000 Americans "have at least a mild Internet addiction . . . " noting that between "five to ten percent of people online are described as suffering from overuse of the Internet or being 'web dependent.'" Interestingly, she shares that 13,800,000 Americans "have a drinking problem."
