Internet rehab for addicted teens

reSTART, a new  treatment center located near Redmond, WA developed specifically for internet, gaming, texting & video game excessive use, now dubbed  the ”Internet Recovery Program.”

Cosette Rae, the Executive director explains reSTART’s mission,  ”The reSTART Internet Addiction Recovery Program is specifically oriented towards launching tech dependent youth and adults back into the real world. Our individually tailored program is designed to assist participants with an Internet and/or computer based behavioral addiction to break the cycle of dependency. Our 45-day abstinence based recovery program exposes participants to a variety of activities and everyday life skills which are often avoided or underdeveloped as a result of excessive ongoing computer, video game play and internet use. ”

Internet addiction: Local professionals say treatments still emerging

First residential facility of its kind opened this summer near Seattle

Though the nation's first residential treatment center for Internet addiction opened this summer near Seattle, local experts say they've been treating the problem for some time."In the last few years, I'm hearing from more parents who are very concerned," said Jeanette Spires, a Lake Forest-based educational consultant who matches troubled teens with the right therapeutic setting. "Their kids have stopped going to school ... because they are just obsessed."

ReSTART Internet Addiction Center Opens in Seattle

ReSTART, the world's first Internet-addiction residential treatment program, opened recently in Redmond, Wash. (ironically enough, the neighborhood where Microsoft was founded). The center offers a 45-day, $14,000 rehabilitation course that promises to help addicts ease dependencies on social networking, online video games, texting and a host of other technological time-wasters.

We've talked about Internet addiction before a few times here on the site, but it's always been through the lens of the media.
